CHICO Eco Fest. 2008

    On Saturday, April 19, 2008 I went to the Eco-Fest that was on campus. The first thing I saw as I was walking up were a lot of people tie-dying shirts, which I thought was really cool because I had not seen that since I was in second grade. Right next to all of these people was a booth where a man was serving homemade Vegan food.  I walked around looking at all the different booths, but what really caught my eye was all the posters that were displayed on the other side of the lawn. The posters were advertising a lot of different things, such as music and other cultural events. As I got closer I could see there were posters made by other colleges on the subject of sustainability. There were posters from the University of Arizona, University of Portland and USC, just to name a few. It was very interesting to see the different ideas each college had on the subject, and comforting seeing how many people are concerned with global issues and recognize the need to address serious issues facing the planet.
    

    I saw a women who was selling jewelry made of bottle caps. There was a booth of students who had a container with compost in it. There were worms in the dirt and all kinds of things inside that container. There were tables that had posters on recycling and how it helps preserve our environment. So its only fitting then that there was also a booth that had a huge poster on how to save our environment.  There was music and bands. The music was very mellow and soothing. The bands were playing their own instruments and singing.. Most of the people attending the Eco-Fest were sitting on the ground listening to the music and enjoying the Vegan food. With the great music, the enticing smell of the food, and basically every person present soaking in and celebrating the beautiful weather and preservation of nature, it was a great event.
